About the Program

The Arts & Consciousness mentorship program at John F. Kennedy University provides a transdisciplinary model for self-directed students to investigate, research and develop specialized techniques, skills and capacities in conjunction with a creative practice or project. Mentorships may include experiential exercises, supervised research, assigned readings, studio visits, critiques and/or individualized training, as determined by the student's artistic and/or professional objectives.

New Group Mentorship Opportunity for Spring!

Take 5: Art Break Day: Group Mentorship
with
Lauren Odell Usher, M.F.A and Lisa Rasmussen, M.F.A.

“Creating art together in a public space encourages dialog between strangers
and allows everyone the access and opportunity to discover the power of art."
Lisa and Lauren (Art is Moving)

We (Lisa and Lauren) are offering a Group Mentorship to coincide with our Community ARTreach Event Take 5: Art Break Day.  If you feel art can change the world join this mentorship and help us MAKE ART FREE and introduce more and more people to the power of art!

If you are a current student interested in learning more about what goes into planning, fundraising, organizing and implementing a Community ARTreach Event we recommend you sign up for our Group Mentorship.

Each student will directly experience and learn how to arrange and facilitate a community art event.

Mentors:
Lauren and Lisa the Co-Creators of Take 5: Art Break Day met while attending the MFA program at JFKU. In 2008, they began the artistic collaboration, Art is Moving. The primary goal of AIM is to make art more accessible to the masses in order for everyone to get the chance to discover the power of creativity.  To read more about Art is Moving's past and present projects go to www.artismovingnow.com
